I Am Community Oncology

Starting a CPAN chapter in Your Practice is Easy!

You care deeply about the future of community oncology and the patients you serve. A great way to channel your passion into action is to start a COA Patient Advocacy Network (CPAN) chapter in your community.

A CPAN chapter—a practice or practices that have banded together in support of local cancer care—is easy to establish and plays an important role in educating patients on key issues and encouraging everyone in a practice’s orbit to become advocates for local cancer care.

Establishing a new CPAN chapter is easy we help you with every step of the way, including:

  • Easy to follow materials for hosting an optional formal launch event featuring speakers from your practice and CPAN
  • Educational materials for your waiting room and practice website (flyers, agendas, presentations, banners and signage, tabletop displays, and more)
  • Information on how patients, family members, caregivers, and even practice staff can sign up to become advocates at org
  • Resources for hosting ongoing educational events during or after your launch
  • Mentoring and training in grassroots advocacy

An easy way some practices choose to launch a CPAN chapter is in conjunction with a previously scheduled, patient-focused activity at the practice — such as an support group meeting, patient appreciation day, or annual survivorship celebration.

However you choose to engage, CPAN will be with you every step of the way, providing valuable resources and support. All new chapter launches are also announced to local and national media as well as to the entire COA community.
The future of local cancer care depends on decision-makers in Washington, DC and elsewhere hearing from all of us about why community oncology is critical and how it makes a difference.

Help us ensure that local cancer care remains in your community where it belongs. Email Rose Gerber at CPAN (roseg@coacancer.org) to start your CPAN chapter today!
